Meet the Team
Here at Little Readers we are a family. We are proud of our team and the passion they bring to helping children grow in confidence and develop a love of learning. Each tutor is carefully chosen for their expertise, creativity, and caring approach.

On this page, you can get to know the people behind Little Readers. We believe that learning is about connection as much as it is about knowledge, so we’d love you to meet the wonderful people who make Little Readers such a special place.

Pippy Edwards
Founder of Little Readers & Tutor
Pippy is the founder of Little Readers UK — a role that sees her running, managing, scaling, and tutoring within the business every day. Originally from South Africa, she completed all of her studies in the UK and is a fully qualified teacher with a strong background in both classroom teaching and private tutoring.

Her passion lies in helping young children unlock their reading potential through the power of phonics. She understands that every child learns differently, and adapts her teaching style to suit each learner’s unique needs. For Pippy, every lesson is about more than skills — it’s about building confidence, sparking curiosity, and nurturing a lifelong love of reading.

Little Readers UK was born from that passion. Under Pippy’s leadership, it has grown into a space where children feel supported, struggles become successes, and the joy of reading takes centre stage.

Joanna Butler
Administrative Assistant
While studying journalism and sociology at Rhodes University, Jo mentored first-year students, helping them think critically, write clearly, and prepare for exams with confidence. Later, working in the university’s Drama Department, she discovered the joy of bringing words alive, making characters leap from the page, and turning storytelling into something you can feel as much as understand.
Today, Jo divides her time between Little Readers and helping run a family Lodge in South Africa, where she has honed her gift for working with people from all walks of life. She lives on a small wine farm where her family grows Pinot Noir, keeping life delightfully down-to-earth.
Behind the scenes at Little Readers, Jo is often wrangling Canva, sending out student agreements, choosing A Word of the Day, or cheering on our readers’ wins. Whatever the task, she does it with heart, humour, and — more often than not — a good cup of tea (or a well-earned glass of wine) at her side.

Rachel Spencer
Little Readers Tutor
Rachel is the kind of teacher every child deserves — warm, wise, and quietly extraordinary. With over a decade of classroom experience, she has taught across Key Stages 1 and 2 and holds the prestigious NPQLL (National Professional Qualification in Leading Literacy).
She has led the teaching of reading and writing in an outstanding school and now brings that expertise into her virtual classroom, where phonics feels purposeful, stories come alive, and children grow in confidence.
Based in Liverpool, Rachel is also a proud mum, dog-lover, and keeper of two spirited chickens, Sunny and Midnight.
Creative, caring, and full of perspective, she lifts everyone around her — tutors and pupils alike.
In the Little Readers family, Rachel is more than a tutor: she is a believer in possibility and a joyful guide for every child she teaches.

Lois Morton
Little Readers Tutor
Lois is an avid reader with a special love for children’s picture books. One of her favourite authors is Michael Rosen, and she even had the chance to meet him in person while he signed one of her most treasured books! A qualified teacher for over 10 years, Lois has held a variety of leadership roles including Head of Year and Curriculum Leader. She has taught across all year groups, but her true specialism lies in Early Years. Deeply passionate about children’s education, Lois believes that strong reading and oracy skills are the key to helping children become confident and successful learners.
In her sessions, Lois focuses on building children’s self-belief and tailoring learning to each individual child. Her lessons are filled with warmth, encouragement, and often a little music — she adores singing and enjoys bringing her ukulele along to sessions.
Her favourite quote: “One book, one pen and one teacher can change the world.” – Malala Yousafzai
